Historian's Report - April 2004
BY Will J.

Over the last three months and since the last Court Of Honor Troop 159 has been very busy, in-fact in the middle of February Troop 159 was visited by a group of Webelos to which we showed a huge display of our "past history" which took up the whole entire gym! We then went up to Camp Old Indian where some of the scouts worked on the Pioneering Merit Badge and the Paul Bunyan patch. Our High Adventure then took off to Jones Gap where they did an eleven-miler hike, where some of are less fortunate scouts found out that hiking over rocks with short legs is not very easy and makes you quite prone to falling down, although there were many falls on the hike the High Adventure sustained no real injuries except a few cuts and scrapes.

In March the troop went to Camp Old Indian again, where we were visited by another group of Webelos which we taught: BB's, knots , archery, totin' chit, first aid, and rope making. On the 13th, some of the scouts participated in the "Adopt A HIghway" project, while at the same time, Daniel Zelmer was at Messiah Lutheran Church with some other scouts doing his Eagle Project. Daniel has successfully passed his board of review, and is now a full fledged Fossil, congratulations Daniel!

In April our troop took part in the spring Cook-E-Ree at "The Boys' Home Of The South" where we won a total of 13 awards including the "Fossil-won" third place ribbon in the Golden Skillet Award. To top it all off Troop 159 now has three new members, and four scouts that have been chosen for the Order Of The Arrow ordeal they are: David J., Chris A., Nate N., and Chase S. Good luck in the ordeal guys!
